Body mass index (BMI) does not predict responses to psilocybin
A recent study investigated the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the psychological and physiological responses to psilocybin, a psychedelic compound found in certain mushrooms. The findings, based on a sample of 180 healthy adult participants, revealed no significant correlations between BMI and the effects of psilocybin, suggesting that other factors, such as genetic predispositions, individual metabolism differences, and psychological factors, may play more important roles in determining an individual's response to the compound. This research has implications for future studies on psilocybin and its clinical applications, emphasizing the need to explore other relevant factors and expand the understanding of psilocybin's effects across different populations.
